A goal is a dream with a deadline.
– Napoleon Hill
Meaning of this quote:
When It comes to dreams the sky is the limit. Anyone can visualize anything, there are no limitations. Irrespective of whether a dream is logical or realistic, it is still possible to dream it.
But when it comes to setting goals, they must be realistic and logical. A goal is a process of turning the impossible possible.
It is impossible to turn a dream into a reality overnight. There is no magic formula or overnight success. The real magic happens when we transform our dream into a process, tie it to goals, and work towards it realistically.
The moment we dream of something, there is nothing impossible or impossible. However, once we form it into goals, we have to analyze what’s actually possible both in the short term and over the long run.
A goal is a process
Dreams can become reality if we believe in creating the process and follow it with passion, dedication, and love. Planning is the key, nothing great has ever been created without planning.
Goals are achieved by creating small, clear, and measurable steps that will lead to immediate and long-term results. This is the process of achieving milestone after milestone.
Taking no action is the best way to turn a dream into a wish. The greatest dream or vision is nothing more than a wish or daydream when we don’t find the ways to make it a reality.
Realize that a grand vision cannot be realized in one shot, but with a series of small and systematic steps. It is always a long-term process.
A dream holds no significance when we fail to tie it into goals; when we don’t plan and execute it. When you visualize something, make sure you also visualize how to make it happen, because without it all is for nothing.
Setting a deadline makes things happen
Sometimes, it’s difficult to accomplish things when you’re working for yourself and have no external influence or pressure.
You might find it challenging to come up with a realistic deadline on your own and follow it, especially when you are working on your passion project and you aren’t accountable to anyone. That’s where discipline comes into play. Motivation is not enough, it has to be backed up by discipline from you.
Rather than dreaming of what you can achieve, dream of what you cannot, and let that motivate you to find the means to make it happen, let that motivate you to test your limits. Indeed, it’s not that easy. It can also involve failure, but it’s how we learn and overcome those failures that make us stronger and better.
A dream is merely a wish when we seek the desired results without actually working for them. Nothing happens on its own, It takes hard work, perseverance, planning, and discipline. It’s a process of going from one deadline to another.
Imagination and planning go hand in hand. What differentiates the goals from the wishes is the deadline; a goal must have a deadline. While wishes may not have any purpose, the goals must have some.
What brings a positive result is the habit of consistency. Good habits are the key to success. There’s no alternative to hard work, without it almost everything is unachievable.
Aim for something bigger than yourself, realize that any goal we set is achievable if we divide it into several steps and follow it by taking a realistic approach.
The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up and down the field and never score.
